Overall Goal:
The primary objective of this project was to transform a former walk-in closet into a functional and inviting bunk room for children. The goal was to maximize the use of space while maintaining a cohesive and stylish design that seamlessly integrates with the rest of the home.

Specific Tasks:

  1. Design Bunk Room for Best Use of Space:
The design focused on creating an efficient layout that optimizes the limited space available in the former walk-in closet. By carefully considering the room’s dimensions and existing architecture, we were able to develop a plan that provides ample sleeping accommodations without feeling cramped.
  2. Incorporate Custom Cabinetry:
Custom cabinetry was integrated into the design to offer storage solutions that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. These cabinets were crafted to complement the transitional style of the room, providing space for clothes, toys, and other essentials.
  3. Demo Existing Space and Build Out New Interior:
The project involved the demolition of the existing closet space to prepare for the new build-out. This step was crucial in creating a blank canvas for the bunk room, allowing us to start fresh and implement the new design with precision.
  4. Incorporate Custom Removeable Brass Bunk Rail:
A custom removeable brass bunk rail was installed as a focal point of the design. This element not only adds a touch of elegance to the room but also ensures safety for the children using the top bunks.

Design Style:
The bunk room was designed in a transitional style, blending contemporary and traditional elements to create a timeless look. This approach ensured that the space would be functional for years to come while remaining in harmony with the rest of the home’s decor.

Design Highlights:

  • Bunk Room Can Sleep Three Kiddos:
The room was designed to comfortably sleep three children, making it perfect for family gatherings and sleepovers. The bunk beds are arranged to make the most of the available space, ensuring each child has their own cozy nook.
  • Custom Built Bunk Beds & Ladder:
The bunk beds and ladder were custom-built to fit the room’s unique dimensions and design aesthetic. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in these elements highlight the quality of the overall design.
  • Family Sleepovers!:
This bunk room is more than just a sleeping space—it’s a place for memories. The design was conceived with family sleepovers in mind, providing a comfortable and fun environment for children to enjoy.
  • Bunk Room Off Master Bedroom:
Conveniently located just off the master bedroom, the bunk room is easily accessible for parents, making it an ideal setup for young families. This proximity allows parents to keep a close eye on their children while also giving them a space of their own.

This project successfully turned a small, underutilized space into a functional and stylish bunk room that meets the needs of the family while enhancing the overall design of the home.
